Thanksgiving in October! That’s right! But without the turkey – well, it’s always without the turkey for me since I am a vegetarian, but you get the idea. No big meal to cook, no need to clean the house, no special sales flyers to pour over and plan a crazy shopping trip at 3am. But what I do want to do is that age-old tradition of making a list of things I am thankful for. Right now, right here, this moment.
*that our health insurance company has assigned us a Case Manager who’s sole job is to make my interactions with the insurance company easier including staying on top of referrals
*American Family Children’s Hospital
*doctors and nurses who make the impossibly difficult choice to specialize in Pediatric Oncology
*Fall – Devil’s Lake here we come!
*human capacity to care about others and be generous
*my husband, family, friends, and strangers
*Wes’ new way of laughing -sounds like a mix between Count Dracula and a dog who has a rawhide stuck in their throat
*being a co-owner of two successful businesses
*dogs – enough said
*my health – the better to care for others with, though I would trade places with my baby in a heart beat
*the World Wide Web – what an amazing resource for research, right at my fingertips
*the guy at Office Max that helped me load two boxes of paper when I had a rare completely helpless moment and was trying to hold back tears
*carpet cleaner – there was a baby poop-smearing story that you may or may not want to hear more about
